My Values

I grew up on my parents' farm in Pend Oreille County learning early on the value of hard work, dedication, and perseverance.

After graduating from Newport High School, I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gonzaga University double majoring in Criminal Justice and Sociology.  In 2002, I received my law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law and began gaining the skills and expertise I eventually brought back home to Pend Oreille County.

As a judicial law clerk to the Seventh Judicial District Court in Ely, Nevada, I was granted unparalleled access to and knowledge of the judicial process.  This experience provided me with an insider view of the court system and ability to view cases from the court's perspective that has helped me in my role as prosecutor. I returned to Washington in 2003 and began my career as a prosecutor with the Okanogan County Prosecutor's Office, where I handled district court, juvenile court and felony drug court.

I served as a Pend Oreille County deputy prosecutor from 2006 to 2014.  While working closely with Tom Metzger, I gained invaluable experience and established myself as a tenacious and dedicated deputy prosecutor. I have also served as a special prosecutor to Lincoln County where I handled felony cases and civil forfeitures.

Over the past nineteen years as a prosecutor, I have handled hundreds of cases ranging from homicides, sexual assault, child abuse, property crimes and violent crimes.  I have met with hundreds of crime victims and pursued justice for them, their families and their communities. I am unyielding in my care and concern for the safety of the residents of my home county and the pursuit for justice for all victims of crime. It has been my honor to serve as the Pend Oreille County Prosecutor since 2015.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
